An Update to the Community Regarding the Wilmington Senior Center:

The Board of Directors of the Wilmington Senior Center wishes to address our community, members, donors, partners, and the public regarding recent challenges the organization has encountered.

Following a thorough review of operations and performance, the Board has made the difficult decision to terminate the employment of the former Executive Director, effective January 21, 2026. This action was taken to safeguard the long-term stability and mission of the organization.

We acknowledge that these events have created uncertainty and disruption, and we take full responsibility for our oversight role. The Board is deeply committed to transparency and accountability as we move forward.

The Wilmington Senior Center remains vitally important to the seniors of Wilmington and surrounding areas. For many years, it has provided essential programs, services, support, and fellowship that enrich lives and foster community. We are resolute in our dedication to continuing and strengthening this work.

Our vision is clear: to restore the organization to full financial health, reinstate operational stability, and ensure it thrives as a trusted resource for generations to come.

A key step in this recovery is securing new, capable leadership. We are actively seeking a qualified Executive Director who can lead fundraising efforts, rebuild operational strength, and repair and renew relationships with our generous donors, supporters, and community partners. Strong leadership will be essential to guiding us through this transition and realizing our shared goals.

We sincerely thank our members, staff, volunteers, and supporters for their patience, loyalty, and continued belief in our mission during this challenging time. Your involvement and encouragement mean everything as we work diligently to emerge stronger.
