Run for the Ages Race Information
Wilmington Senior Center's 5th annual Run for the Ages will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014. The race events will begin and end at the Wilmington Senior Center at 1901 N. Market Street, with the USATF Certified 5K and 10K courses going through scenic Brandywine Park. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m., with the race events beginning as follows:
· 8:30 a.m. – 10K Run
· 10:00 a.m. – 5K Run
· 10:00 a.m. – 5K Walk
· 10:00 a.m. – 1-mile Senior Stroll
Runners and walkers of all ages can participate in a 10K run, 5K run, 5K walk or 1 mile stroll. NOVA Timing Systems will chip time the 10 K and 5K events using the IPCIO chip timing system. Awards will be given to the fastest male and female runners and the top three in age groups. Awards will also be given to the top 3 male and female walkers.
Online registration is available until 4/10/14at www.runfortheages.org. In person registration is available at the Wilmington Senior Center and the Delaware Running Company store in Greenville, Delaware.
Pre-registration cost is $20. Registration on day of race is $25. Cost to run both races is $35.00 (one T-shirt). Events are free for children 10 and under (no T-shirt).
Individual and Team Donations
Participants are encouraged to get donations from friends and colleagues to help the Wilmington Senior Center provide health, activities and economic security for older adults. Teams of runners and walkers can seek contributions, too. Go to the race website at www.runfortheages.org for information on starting a team and to make online donations. Prizes will be given to team captains with the most members and who raise the most money. The individual who raises the most money will also receive a prize.
T-Shirts, Refreshments and More!
Tek T-Shirts are guaranteed for the first 300 registrants. They will be sized for men and women. Everyone can enjoy post-race refreshments, as well as drawings for door prizes and musical entertainment. Pre- and post-race massages will also be available on a first come, first served basis.
Parking will be available in the lots at 19th & Market Streets and at Concord & Market.
